Our Women and Girls Empowerment Project can scale up thanks to a generous grant from Together Women Rise
Maasai Mara, Kenya—We are thrilled to announce that the game-changing women of TOGETHER WOMEN RISE have honoured our work with a grant to support our Nashulai Women and Girls Empowerment Project, to provide lasting societal change that will improve the lives of Maasai girls and women.
Nashulai Maasai Conservancy, on the outskirts of the famed Maasai Mara national Park, will also be the featured grantee in the month of October 2021 for the 445 chapters of Together Women Rise around the US.
With this timely funding we will be able to immediately focus on scaling up girls' education and sexual reproductive health education, initiating women's rights and advocacy training, eliminating FGM, decreasing violence against girls and women, and scaling up our creation of women led co-operative enterprises to prepare women for employment in the post-Covid society.
The Nashulai Women and Girls Empowerment Project will be able to provide 2,000 girls at villages in and around Nashulai with reusable menstrual pads and sexual reproductive health education sessions (and train 20 trainers to scale it further), educate 2,000 parents on the benefits of girls education, prevent 150 schoolgirls from dropping out and providing 50 scholarships to the most needy. 600 women will receive gender rights and advocacy training (and train 20 trainers to scale it further) and an Anti-FGM and GBV Radio talk show campaign will be launched on Maa language radio reaching an audience of 1.5 million. The coordinated project will also provide employment for 1,080 women (540 in beekeeping, 540 in soap/sanitizer making) in sustainable and self scaling women-led cooperative enterprises.
